The Carolina Geological Guidebooks are freely available for download in Adobe pdf format. Large map are in grayscale or bitmap tif format.

Most guidebooks have been typed from the original and formatted to a "standard" style. All figures have been scanned and incorporated into the text near the place where first cited. Many figures have been reduced from the original size and even rearranged on the page. The photographs have been the most difficult to reproduce, and one should not exspect the quality to be as good as in the original guidebook. Many tables have been put into a format that differs from the originals. All guidebooks have been spell checked, but errors in spelling of non-dictionary words and proper names may occur. Minor errors of spelling that occur in the originals have been corrected.

The typing from the originals have been done by a variety of volunteers. Mistakes have no doubt been made and not detected as the typed copy has not been proofed against the original. Formatting of heading has been standardized, but the order of the headings has been followed as closely as possible.

I believe that the text, figures, and tables are very close to the spirit of the originals.

A few guidebooks have been furnished by the editors in pdf format, 1994 and 1997 are two examples. These should be the same as the originals.
